Note:  State law in California, Illinois, Missouri, Nevada, Oregon, and Wisconsin allow the spouse to be an automatic authorized driver as long as renter requirements are met.

Minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21, except in NY and MI, where the minimum age to rent is 18.

Rental rates may be higher for renters and additional drivers under the age of 25.

Certain specialty and larger sized vehicles may not be available for rentals when the renter or additional driver is under 25.

A credit card guarantee is required at certain times of the year in order to reserve a car.

Certain car types require a credit card guarantee year-round.

If your reservation required a credit card in order to book and you need to cancel, please be sure to
give at least 24 hours advance notice to avoid any cancellation fees and/or penalties.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is not insurance.  The purchase of CDW is optional and not required in order to rent a vehicle.

You may purchase optional CDW for an additional fee.  If you purchase CDW we agree, subject to the actions that invalidate CDW listed on the rental agreement, to contractually waive your responsibility for all or part of the cost of damage to, loss or theft of, the vehicle. DW does not apply to damage occurring in Mexico.

When deciding whether or not to purchase DW, you may wish to check with your insurance representative or credit card company to determine whether, in the event of damage to, or theft of, vehicle, you have coverage or protection for such damage or theft and the amount of your deductible or out-of-pocket risk. 

One-Way rentals are allowed within Canada and may be assessed a one-time drop charge or mileage charge in addition to the rental rate. This is also known as an 'inter-city' fee.

If there is a drop charge fee, it will be disclosed when you book via the web site and is payable at time of pick-up.

The return location is indicated on your rental agreement. The cost of the rental reflects the return of the vehicle to that location. Returning the vehicle to a location other than the one indicated on your rental agreement will incur a separate charge.

As a customer, you have a choice as to how you would like to pay for fuel.

Option 1:  Prepay Fuel

• This option allows the renter to pay for the full tank of gas at the time of rental and return the tank empty. No refunds will be issued for unused gas.

Option 2:  We Refill

• This option allows the renter to pay Alamo at the end of the rental for gas used but not replace. Price per litre will be higher than local fuel prices.

Option 3:  You Refill

• This option allows the renter to return the vehicle with a full tank of gas to avoid extra fuel charges.

Important Note:  For Europeans booking in the US and Canada, unless included in the rate package, payment for a tank of gas will be required at time of rental. No refund will be issued for fuel purchased but not used. The total prepaid fuel charge reflected is an estimate based on current prices and the average tank size for the car class reserved, and may change at time of rental.

Personal Accident Insurance - PAI - for this branch is 6.99 CAD per day. Personal Accident Insurance - PAI - is offered at the time of rental for an additional daily charge. If accepted, PAI provides the renter and passengers with accidental death, medical expenses and dental benefits. Benefits are payable in addition to any other insurance coverage the renter or passengers may have. This is a summary only. PAI is subject to the provisions, limitations and exclusions of the PAI policy under-written by Aviva Insurance Company. The purchase of PAI is optional and not required to rent a car. The coverage provided by PAI may duplicate the renters existing coverage. Alamo is not qualified to evaluate the adequacy of the renters existing coverage, therefore the renter should examine his or her personal insurance policies or other sources of coverage that may duplicate the coverage provided by PAI.

A credit card, with available credit and in the renter's name, must be presented. The signature on the back must match the name imprinted on the card. In addition, if the renter has an online transaction, the number and name printed on the card presented by renter must match the name and number stored for the online transaction.

Canada:  The following credit cards are accepted for rentals in Canada: American Express®, MasterCard®, VISA®.

%u25CF Present a major credit card in renter's name at the time of rental.

Note:  A Credit card is not required to rent in the state of New York. Renters who do not have a credit card will need to complete a cash qualification process in order to rent a vehicle.
